Preparing Preliminary Reports for Protected Areas

Although the basic objectives of the existing protection status are all the same in Turkey, applying scientific, technical and administrative aspects of some problems, there are confusions and overlaps time to time. For this reason, preliminary examination and preliminary evaluation report are prepared for the evaluation and re-establishment of the existing areas in line with the "Regulation on Procedures and Principles Regarding the Detection, Registration and Approval of Protected Areas" published by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization on the Official Gazette dated July 19, and presented to the Regional Commission for the Preservation of Natural Assets. As a result of this study, it is determined whether the area is a natural site character and / or a natural protected category based on qualitative (observation based) and quantitative (numerical) evaluations.

As a result of the preliminary evaluation report, in case of necessity of scientific research work, Ecological Based Scientific Research Report and studies on geological, geomorphological, hydrogeological and landscape values are made. In consequence of the Scientific Research Report, the Regional Commission is examined and after the General Directorate evaluation, the Natural Protected Category or Cancellation is decided.
