Ecosystem Assessment Reports

The General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks of the Ministry of Forestry and Ministry of Water Affairs is requesting the preparation of the Ecosystem Assessment Report in accordance with the project area and characteristics in the EIA process. These works requested by DKMP General Directorate for many investments, especially for Wind Power Plants, Solar Power Plants and Mining Projects. In the 'Ecosystem Assessment Report' for Hydroelectric Power Plants, the Evaluation Report and Other Hydraulic Activities has developed in special format.

Ecosystem Assessment studies are carried out by expert academicians on the basis of the project site characteristics (habitat types, sensitivity, rarity and conservation priority situations). Using the meteorological data, the impact on ecosystem and habitat are determined. Measures are taken to assess the effects of flora and fauna of the activities in the area. Flora and fauna lists are prepared according to the information obtained from field studies and results are presented according to systematic rules.

Using sustainable energy, minimizes damage to the nature and reduces contribution to the global warming. Building standards in developed country level, have been established to be applied without disturbing the ecological living. The most important of the Green Building Assessment Systems are BEES (Building for Environmental and Economic Sustainability), BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method), CASBEE (Japanese Government Supported Certification), GREENSTAR, LCAid, LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), SBtool (Sustainable Building Tool- Canada). The "Ecosystem Assessment Report" is prepared as a basis for certification. The report concludes by suggesting that conservation and enhancement of biodiversity for use in building construction should be proposed and monitored in the future.
