Greenhause Gas Emission Reporting

Report on Greenhouse Gas Emissions regarding the studies on the calculation of greenhouse gas emissions, which is an important step in the fight against climate change, the "Regulation on the Establishment of Greenhouse Gas Emissions" was published by the Official Gazette dated 17.5.2014 and numbered 29003.

Under the regulation, greenhouse gas emissions from energy and industry establishments, which constitute a significant part of national greenhouse gas emissions, will be monitored at the plant level.

According to this regulation, which is based on the EU ETS directives and guidelines, the operators are required to verify the greenhouse gas emission amounts they have released each year from 1 January to 31 December of the previous year through monitoring plans approved by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, they are obliged to communicate with the Ministry.

In the medium and long term, this practice can be considered as cornerstone in the establishment of a national carbon trading system in Turkey; the loans obtained in Turkey, finding buyers in the domestic market and the supply-demand balance is expected to contribute to the recovery.
